How does Clonazepam work?
Clonazepam showcases pharmacological attributes that align with common characteristics of benzodiazepines, encompassing anticonvulsant, sedative, muscle relaxant, and anxiolytic effects. As observed in other benzodiazepines, its impact is primarily attributed to GABA-mediated postsynaptic inhibition, with select animal studies suggesting a serotonergic influence.
Animal models and electroencephalographic investigations in humans demonstrate the rapid suppression of diverse forms of paroxysmal activity by clonazepam. These include spike-and-wave discharges in absence seizures (petit mal), slow spike waves, generalized spikes, and spikes in various temporal or other locations, as well as irregular waves.
In the context of epilepsy, clonazepam exhibits greater consistency in suppressing generalized EEG normalities over focal abnormalities. Consequently, it holds promise for treating both generalized and focal epilepsies.
Clonazepam's gastrointestinal absorption is robust, evidenced by peak blood concentrations of 6.5-13.5 ng/mL approximately 1 to 2 hours after a 2 mg oral dose of micronized clonazepam in healthy adults. The maximum concentration, however, may occur between 4 to 8 hours in some individuals. Although the plasma concentration necessary for therapeutic efficacy remains undetermined, studies suggest it falls within the 20-80 ng/ml range. This range can be maintained with a daily dosage of 6 mg clonazepam divided into three doses for adults and 1.5-4 mg daily in three divided doses for children aged 6 to 13 years. Typically, action commences within 20 to 60 minutes, with effects lasting 6 to 8 hours in infants and young individuals, and exceeding 12 hours in adults.
Limited information exists regarding clonazepam's distribution, although it mirrors the behavior of other benzodiazepines. The drug is known to cross both the placenta and the blood-brain barrier.
Clonazepam undergoes hepatic metabolism, generating diverse metabolites, including 7-aminoclonazepam, 7-acetaminoclonazepam, 3-hydroxy derivatives, and clonazepam itself. These metabolites are primarily excreted in urine through a first-order reaction, along with their glucuronic and/or sulfate conjugates. A nominal proportion of the drug is excreted unchanged.

We offer the guarantee that your product will have at least 10 months of use at the time of sale, however most of the drugs we sell have an expiration date greater than 1 to 2 years
